2010 Blog Archives

Below are my archived blog entries for 2010. If you've read this far into my site, you must really be interested in what I have to say. Thank you - I'm flattered. I just hope you will still find the blog interesting as you start to read my comments below. (I happen to think there's still some value to be found in them.)

Changes on the Rise
Recently, I've been doing some minor modifications site wide. These changes include widening my site layout to enable more space for more content on my sidebars. I've also come to the realization that I'm going to have to seek out sponsors (aka advertisers) for my site as webhosting costs are continuing to rise. I finally made these changes live last month - actually it was the same day I officially opened my "Store".

So to keep this site free for everyone (instead of charging a monthly fee for all content access), this new layout will also feature a limited amount of display ads marked as "Partners". Some areas of this site already have this up.

It's a decision I've been wrestling with for some time now, but feel that this is the best way to go forward to keep my site operational while not sending me to the poor house. smile

That said, I will do my best to choose partners and sponsors that can offer something relevant yet provide value for my users.

I'll be upfront in letting this be known that I have not made anything (financially speaking) off this site. But I've made some great contacts and friendships along the way. The wisdom gained from creating content for this site is another reward for me. Those things could be enough, as it was never really my original purpose to simply make money. I figured if that came with it, then great! I really do get much joy and satisfaction making motivational materials like these wallpapers. But as I've mentioned, it costs money to keep a site like this running.

I'll still be making new wallpapers next year. But I know I won't be able to make as many as in the previous years as I aim to get more items merchandised the proper way, as well as continuing to expand on the number of available resolutions of my older wallpapers to the 16 sizes. All of this should keep me quite busy next year.

Additional Resolutions to "Diversity"
DiversityAnother quick update for you on my progress to make more resolutions available for all my wallpapers. I've added 8 more sizes tonight to "Diversity" (#28). I've also made some minor enhancements to this wallpaper as well.

I think this will be the last update regarding size expansions for this year. I'll be posting one more bit of news tomorrow night, so be sure to come back tomorrow.

Changes and Additional Resolutions to "Dreams"
DreamsJust a quick update to let you know I've added 8 more resolutions to "Dreams" (#14).

Along with adding more sizes for this wallpaper, I've made a few small changes and fixes within the actual image. For some reason when I originally created this wallpaper over 3 years ago, I overlooked a few things.

I guess back in 2007, I was too busy with getting more wallpapers on this site to notice certain details. Over the course of time, I feel that I've elevated my own standards when it comes to creating new wallpapers.

I'm happy with it now though. Enjoy!

The One-Hundredth Wallpaper - "Motivation"
MotivationAfter 3½ years of work, planning, and thought put into my wallpaper ideas, I am so very pleased and excited to announce tonight that I have released my 100th success wallpaper for this site! It so fittingly is entitled, "Motivation", as that is what helped get me to this milestone. This is also the last wallpaper I will release this year/season. (I consider a calendar year as a "season", so this year, 2010, will be my 4th completed season.)

Motivation is a strange topic when you stop and think about it. It's what influences people to take action, in what can be considered positive or negative directions. We call subjects that motivate us - motivators. These can come in positive or negative forms as well. Most of the time, however, motivation is associated in the positive form (which I prefer to use myself).

Motivation may not always be present either. It seems to appear when we decide in our minds to have it. Yet it vanishes when we get careless and forget about it.

It is an encouraging fact though that no one can take our motivation away from us if we so choose. We are the ones who decide how our minds behave and where our focus lies. Consequently, we decide when it leaves us when we shift our focus.

I suggest that we heed the great advice from Zig Ziglar to put motivation into our minds on a daily basis. Decide to first focus your mind on the right motivation (the positive). Then, secondly, decide to do this as early in your day as possible - this is key to getting you off in the right direction. Do this daily exercise, and you'll build up in your mind what it needs to keep moving you forward!

FAQ Page & More Additions
Tonight I've finally added a long-awaited page for this site - my FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page. I've been wanting to make this available for a long time, but something always seemed to pop up and take priority just as I was preparing to sit myself down to make it. I've given 6 questions with 6 answers (currently), that have been asked of me many times, but I know that I'll be adding and refining this page in the future.

I've also recently been working on making available another new product category in my store - motivational greeting cards. You can see all the designs I have available at my Zazzle store here. I should also have my new wallpaper finished for tomorrow. So be sure to come back soon.

Ninety-ninth Wallpaper - "Excellence"
ExcellenceHello everyone! I've just released my 99th motivational wallpaper for my gallery (22nd for the year) titled "Excellence".

You might be wondering why I'd put out a tropical (almost summer-like) wallpaper this late in the year. Well, nothing says December better than surfing in the Tropics, right? Ok, maybe I'm just trying to deal with the reality that I live in Wisconsin and it's December now. And the snow will soon be covering everything around here. Realizing this, I feel I have to allow my mind to take me to other places I'd rather be at - nothing wrong with that, right?

Regarding this image...I've never surfed myself, but I have this strange fascination when I watch surfboarding. It's quite impressive when a surfer "Hangs Ten" on a big wave. Being able to actually "Hang Ten" is considered one of the more impressive feats one can do on a surfboard. One could say that this act is surfing "excellence". (Read this for more on "Hanging Ten".)

Excellence of course doesn't come easy. Nothing great or worthwhile ever does. Excellence comes as a result of a combination of knowledge (knowing what to do), action (doing it), repetition (enabling yourself to do it better and better), determination (strong desire on achieving it), commitment (not giving up on it), and time (allowing you to master it) blended together. Leave one of these ingredients out, and you will probably fall short of true excellence.

The late great Vince Lombardi pounded this into the minds of the football players that played for him many years ago. He taught his teams to strive for perfection, and in the process, they would catch excellence. Although they never had a perfect season, they did win 5 championships and 2 Super Bowls under Lombardi. And many of his players went on to be inducted into the NFL Football's Hall of Fame.

For most things in life, perfection is unattainable. No one is perfect. But attaining excellence in your chosen field or focus is the next best thing to it!

Changes and Additional Resolutions to "Never Give Up"
Never Give UpJust a quick update to share with you about one of my wallpapers, which also happens to be one of my personal favorites. Last year, I created "Never Give Up" (#64) with a quote by Michael Jordan. I decided to change the quote on this wallpaper to something that I feel fits this concept even better. (This isn't the first time I've switched out a quote for a different one.)

This also gave me the opportunity to create additional resolutions for you and offer those here tonight. I am also planning on making this wallpaper available real soon as a poster, as well as a few other items I had in mind.

I hope you like the new quote as well as the 8 additional resolutions.

The Success Wallpapers Store!
If you haven't yet noticed, there's a new link in the menu bar called "The Store". For a while now, I've received inquiries from users who were interested in the possibility of buying poster versions of my success wallpapers. The idea had actually always been in the back of my mind to possibly do some day, but I wasn't sure if I really wanted to get into that. Over time, I started to like the idea more.

I did some research on companies that offered personalization services. When I found this site called Zazzle that allows artists to upload their work and merchandise their art on a wide selection of products, I felt like this was finally the time to start. Last month I started to tinker a little bit and ordered some sample items to see how well the products Zazzle offered were. I was really impressed with the quality they put into their products. So, this week I worked on making 10 posters, and 10 mousepads available for purchase. I also created a 12-month 2011 wall calendar as well. You can see these by visiting my store pages here.

One special note that I also wanted to make everyone aware of was that Zazzle is offering a limited time special sale through the end of November - a whopping 40% off on calendar items. Just use the code "40CLNDRS2011" when checking out. Just in time for the Holidays! smile

Ninety-eighth Wallpaper - "X-Factor"
X-FactorToday I've finished up another success wallpaper. I've posted it to my gallery entitled, "X-Factor", making it my 98th motivational wallpaper overall for the site.

A few years ago, when I first started out, I had made up my mind to create at least 1 wallpaper for every letter of the English alphabet. Then that took another twist and I created something like a success-based alphabet, kind of like what the US Military has.

Of course the alphabet needed to be based on words that are related to topics or phrases of inspiration, motivation, or success. So I started with "A" and worked my way down, jotting down words that began with "A" in the list. Then I choose the word that best fit the sound of that letter. Then I did "B" and so on, and so forth. When I got to the letter "X", the only phrase that came to mind was the phrase "x-factor". I've heard this before a few times, and after looking it up it seemed as though it could work for my "success alphabet". (I have the list made, but I have 2 more wallpapers to make before the list is completed.)

According to, the term "x factor" is fully defined as "a hard-to-describe influence or quality; an important element with unknown consequences; also written X-factor". I liked the hyphenated version more as it matches well with the military's word for "X" (being "x-ray").

I really like how Gandhi's quote fit in perfectly with the idea that our thoughts are like the "x-factors" for what we ultimately become. Our quality of life depends on the quality of our thoughts. Although it is true, we don't know what the future holds, what is also true is that our lives are greatly affected by our thoughts. If we keep thinking in a positive way, those thoughts build upon themselves and help build our development into better people to help bring us to where we want to go. Guard your thoughts, for they ultimately make you!

"Holidays List" Page
I've created a special list of wallpapers that I have designed in the past that were made to celebrate observed holidays and special occasions (mostly American observed). I made mention of this holidays list after I finished creating "No Fear" a few weeks ago. I have condensed the list to help highlight what has been created so far. I know that there are more special occasion day themes that could also go up on this list (once I create them). When I do create more that fit this category, I will look to add them as well.

You can find this special "Holiday Wallpapers" page here.

Ninety-seventh Wallpaper - "Teamwork"
TeamworkHello again! Today I've added another new motivational wallpaper to my gallery. It's called, "Teamwork", which makes this my 97th addition overall to my site.

As a manager myself, this topic especially hits home for me. Teamwork is vital in many areas of life. Any activity or task that requires more than 1 person to accomplish will require a team to be formed. Having a "team spirit", "giving one up for the team", and "having a team mindset" are all expressions I'm sure you've heard of before.

But the fact that a "team" exists doesn't necessarily mean that teamwork is automatically created with it. Yet, teams won't really work as it should without the element of teamwork.

So what is teamwork? Simply defined: it is a coordinated effort by a group of persons acting together as a team for a common cause. Teams are able to accomplish much more when real teamwork is present. This should make logical sense. Yet, let's still take a look at some of the major benefits that teamwork provides.

First of all, teamwork creates synergy (the sum is greater than the individual parts). It fosters unity that lead to cooperation with team members to do the job better while also removing constraints. It allows for flexibility to respond to change. Teamwork also promotes camaraderie between team members that can lead to higher levels of achievement through motivation to get the job done that benefits everyone involved.

Yes, there's a lot more benefits that exist, but those are the ones that really stick out for me when I think about the concept of teamwork. So, remember these benefits the next time you are part of a team and realize having a spirit of teamwork can enable you and your team to attain those uncommon results.

Ninety-sixth Wallpaper - "No Fear"
No FearI'm going to keep this post short but "sweet" tonight.

To help celebrate this weekend's annual event and all the "trick-or-treating" activities, I've finished posting my newest success wallpaper entitled, "No Fear", making this my 96th addition to my gallery overall.

I wanted to have something like this up last year, but it just didn't pan out. So, with this wallpaper, I've completed my list of wallpapers based on topics that relate (or could relate) to holidays and other special celebratory occasions. There are more of course that I could do, but the ones I really wanted to do are now done. In a few days, I will be making a special page that will just highlight the holidays I've based wallpapers on. So check back real soon.

I wish you all a safe and happy weekend. Just try not to eat too much candy. smile

Ninety-fifth Wallpaper - "Leadership"
LeadershipAfter much work and time, I've finished up on another motivational wallpaper for everyone today. I really wanted to post this one a week ago, but I knew more work was needed for it to be really finished. This new wallpaper is named "Leadership" and is my 95th wallpaper overall in my gallery.

Leadership has been defined as the quality or function of leading, or owning the characteristics necessary to be a leader, as in the ability to lead. But leadership is really a quality that must be active in order for it to become realized. It's about being a servant. It's about having the courage to say "yes" - as in stepping up when a need or crisis arises. A person who leads others to help them get to their goals or an organization's goals does it for the greater good, and not their own.

A few reasons why we just don't see more real leaders today is because some are too shy to take a stand or step up their responsibility. Maybe they don't want to step out of their comfort zone. Another is a lack of character. By this I mean that some people may have a position of power, and they get caught up in that power that they forget what they are there for - to lead and serve others. But instead they take the position or job merely to satisfy their own self-serving needs. That is not leadership.

Leadership at it's core is about standing up in the face of adversity and having the courage to keep going. It's about self-sacrifice and putting others before yourself for the good of everyone. Being a leader requires sacrifice, discipline, courage, vision, and patience.

I believe leadership is something that we all have an innate ability to create and develop. Yes, any one of us can become a leader. I believe it's part of the human makeup that, for most people, goes untapped. We don't realize how great we can be. The notion that some people are just naturally born leaders has some validity (i.e.- the person's personality or opportunities and environments that such a person may have been exposed to). But I believe that one must still make the decision for him/herself and take charge to make a change. We all have the ability to become a leader of some capacity. We all have that potential.

I'd like to challenge you to do something today - wherever you may be - that exhibits leadership. Stand out. Go against your own instincts by doing something - anything - that will make you take your first step to becoming a leader. Only you know what that may entail. There might be someone in your life right now with a need that you don't know about. There's a simple solution to that - just ask! Inquire how you can help out in some way. Keep asking around until you find someone with a need that you can help fulfill. Even a simple word of encouragement exemplifies leadership. It doesn't have to be something gigantic.

These are the simple small steps that can put you on the road to becoming a leader. This builds your character, it helps others, and it does make a difference. This is leadership!

Ninety-fourth Wallpaper - "Unity"
UnityHello again everyone. I have another new wallpaper to unveil for you today. This one is entitled "Unity" and is my 94th wallpaper addition to my gallery.

I originally got the idea for this wallpaper while searching for images on unity. (Just do a search for "unity" on any search engine and you'll probably see the image that inspired me near the top of the results.) There are a few variations I could have went with to use for this concept, but I liked how this one looked the most.

This wallpaper took me a lot longer to complete than I had originally anticipated, but I feel the end result was worth the extra time.

Obviously, the subject matter required some help from others. So, I recruited a couple friends of mine, including members from my own family, to lend me a "hand" (or two) for the making of this image. You could say they exhibited some teamwork of their own in the spirit of unity that day. Thanks again Mom, Spence, Hillary, Drew, Tess, and John for your help in the making of this wallpaper! smile

Enhancements and Additional Resolutions to "Innovation"
InnovationI've added some more resolutions to one of my favorite wallpapers in my collection, this one being "Innovation". As you may know, 2 months ago I decided to expand the number of resolutions from 8 to 16 different sizes on any new wallpaper I would make. I also planned on going back and adding those other 8 sizes when I can find the time to do so.

I really don't have any particular plan on how I'm going to go back and add more sizes for my older wallpapers. It just happened that as I was looking around my site this week, I came across "Innovation", and noticed some things on this image that bothered me. So I went back in my master file for this one and fixed the issues I saw, enhancing the photo, trying to make it look more realistic. Some of you may have noticed these enhancements.

It does take some time to add more versions of stuff I've already done. Since I was redoing this wallpaper anyway, I decided to add the additional sizes right away. Time wise - it's just more convenient this way.

I am also working this week on a new wallpaper, which I hope to have up by the weekend sometime. So stay tuned.

Ninety-third Wallpaper - "Labor"
LaborHappy Labor Day everybody! I just finished up on my newest wallpaper entitled, "Labor" to celebrate today's holiday. This wallpaper ups the count in my gallery to 93 now, which also makes this my 16th of this year.

I wanted to post this much earlier in the day so more people could enjoy it sooner, but a few things I had to get to today took a higher priority before I could get around to finishing this one up.

I hope you all had a pleasant weekend - even if you had to work today. For those of us who currently have a job to go to, I feel we should all be thankful, especially in this present time as the economy is struggling and many people are out of work right now. So many highly skilled laborers are desperately seeking work, and I feel it's a shame when we take any opportunity - like jobs - for granted.

I understand that for many, most jobs eventually become work (meaning boring or even frustrating), and it becomes tempting to take for granted the jobs we have. We need to catch ourselves early when this starts to creep into our mind set. Because before long, we can slide even further with this attitude of apathy into neglect, and we start to slack off, becoming poor workers with diminishing value. (You can see where this path will eventually go.)

It's important to remember how valuable the opportunities we have, wherever we are, and to do the best that we can at all times, even going the extra mile when it's not expected of you to do so. That's how you merit an increase - by doing more than you are paid to do. When we perform our jobs in this manner, the increase we feel we should get will usually follow. It may not happen right away, but you put yourself in a position that makes it very favorable.

Ninety-second Wallpaper - "Wisdom"
WisdomHello everyone! Well, another month has almost come and gone, but I have managed to get another new wallpaper put together for you. This one is entitled, "Wisdom", making it my 92nd wallpaper for my gallery.

I like variety. And when it comes to wallpaper, I still have so many ideas and concepts that I'd like to create my "walls" for. The idea of making a wallpaper on "wisdom" had been on my mind for a while now. I also had a clear image in my mind of using Bibles for this concept to convey wisdom, as there are depths of wisdom and knowledge to be found in the Word of God.

Wisdom is precious. It's something that everyone should always continue to gain more of. In Proverbs, King Solomon, who was the wisest person to have ever lived, said of wisdom: "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding." (Proverbs 4:6-7, NIV) You can really sense how valuable wisdom was to Solomon, more valuable than riches in comparison.

Wisdom cannot be given away. We must discover it for ourselves through our own experience. That could explain why it should be seen as so valuable. We must gain wisdom through our own journey. Now, we can take advantage of people's mistakes and learn from them. That is what the wise do. I'd actually consider that part of the experience of the journey - through observation. But I'm sure many of you know firsthand that personal experience helps drive home the lesson in the clearest form though.

The point here is that we take the effort to find wisdom and use it. Then, keep on acquiring more. It is a journey that should never end until we end.

I'll close this with one last quote I feel sums it all up pretty well. It comes from George Santayana who said, "The wisest mind has something yet to learn."

Stay wise - keep

Ninety-first Wallpaper - "Balance"
BalanceHello everyone! I was actually hoping to have a success wallpaper with a different theme prepared for you today, but I will need more time to work on it. So instead, to keep up my pace of posting two new "walls" out the door every month, I'm posting this wallpaper with a nice reminder for living instead.

This wallpaper is called "Balance", making it the 91st success wallpaper of my gallery. I already have my next two wallpapers almost finished, so those I feel really positive on being able to release on schedule.

As far as the topic of this wallpaper goes, I know I need to be reminded of how important is it to stay balanced in life. I know for myself (to stick with Brian Tracy's car analogy), it's easy to steer off course and get too focused on one area of my life. Not that staying focused on one thing at a time is bad, that's all well and good. But if something is taking up all your time and energy, you will quickly become unbalanced and fall off that proverbial "ball".

That's why I like this image so much. There's not just one sphere in this image, there's many that exsist. Just like there are a lot of balls we have to juggle (or move to in this case) to keep it all together. A car - usually - has four wheels. And they all need to be balanced in order for you to enjoy a smooth ride. If one wheel was too large, the whole vehicle would start wabbling so as to not perform as it was designed to.

That's how it is with our time. We need to focus on spreading out our time on all areas of our life in order to achieve that perfect balance. We are creatures of balance. The 4 major areas I believe every human being needs to find balance in are worship, love & relationships, work, and recreation. Now, I'm not saying that we need to spend as much time on recreation as we do working. For some, getting that balance of work will require 8 hours because that's what their job demands. But, that same person can find balance in the recreation space in 30 minutes to an hour of exercise. The same goes for love & relationships and worship.

It's up to you to find out what works the best for you. But every person needs to determine accurately what that balance is for him/herself - and then stay in that balance for optimal living.

Here's to you having a balanced day for a maximized life!

Ninetieth Wallpaper - "Values"
ValuesHello everyone! I've just finished up my 90th success wallpaper today called "Values", aka my 13th wallpaper for this year.

Values - everyone has their own set of defining values in life and reasons behind them. Most values are positive in nature, but they can be negative as well. (For the purposes of this entry, let us assume I am focusing on only the positive.)

Values help us to define our character. They are what we believe in. They help us to continue on when times get tough.

The wise allow positive values - like love, honor, discipline, respect, self-control, and hard work - take root to the point that they invest in them emotionally. Great values will help you govern your life to act in harmony with these principles. The goal is to set a high standard with those values and live them out on a consistent basis, so as to live in harmony with your fellow man.

If you do invest in great values, and you truly allow them to become a part of you, I believe you can become great. Build a great set of values, and you'll build a better you!

Eighty-ninth Wallpaper - "Achieve"
AchieveHello everyone. Tonight I'm releasing my latest new success wallpaper entitled, "Achieve", which is my 89th overall wallpaper for my gallery.

I am also excited because tonight is the first time that I will be releasing all 16 resolution sizes for a wallpaper at the same time. (I've recently expanded the selection of sizes my wallpapers can be downloaded in from 8 to 16.)

I love this quote by Kettering. Let me just expound on this by encouraging those who have that desire for great tings that you definitely can achieve them, but there are a few things that any great achievement will require.

One of them is setting your sights on greater things, and believing, or even taking it further - expecting, that those things can come true. It may not look so good now, but you need to set your sights higher than others can see.

Setting your sights high, and believing in them may feel weird at first - even daunting. But you can't "get there" if you're not evening focusing on that place. I know I may be speaking in vague terms here, but I hope you get the point.

If you can't see it, you won't get there. So stop looking down at where you're at now, and look up and see the possibilities of what you can ultimately achieve.

More Resolutions (No, Not That Kind)
OpportunityInstead of releasing a new wallpaper tonight, (I'll hopefully have a new one tomorrow night), I wanted to make it known that I've decided to provide additional wallpaper sizes (resolutions) for my wallpapers. It will take some time to do all of them, but I figured that this will add more convenience to many of you who use other resolutions than the eight I had available (particularly those of you who use Macs).

As I was looking at one of my older wallpapers, I saw a sentence error in Opportunity (#3). It hit me then that as long as I'm fixing this one, I might as well add the 8 new sizes at the same

I also enhanced the color a bit in this image, as it looked too blue overall. I hope you like the improvements on this as well as the new size resolutions that I hope to eventually have available for all my wallpapers here.

Eighty-eighth Wallpaper - "Time"
TimeI'm happy to give to you another motivational wallpaper for this month. This wallpaper is actually one I conceived a while ago, but other ideas kept coming to me that kept taking posting precedence over this one until now.

This one is called "Time", which is my 11th wallpaper for the year and my 88th overall.

This picture is of the famous Musee d'Orsay clock, which is located in Paris, France. It's a beautiful piece of artwork itself.

Due to the topic of the theme, I enhanced the actual photo a bit to add my own personal touch of what I envisioned the skies should look like for this wallpaper. You can compare this with the original photo (see credit link listed here).

By itself, the image was fine, but I wanted to capture in this wallpaper the idea of how things do change over time and how fleeting time is. The illuminated skies give reference to a day coming to a close to emphasize the fact that we all have limited time in life. Time itself is a constant. It stops for no one.

I am finding out more and more now that as I get older, time becomes increasingly more valuable, and more precious. Time is something that we can't buy more of. We can't even bank it for later. You either use it or lose it.

What will you do with the time that's left? Make sure you are spending yours wisely.

Eighty-seventh Wallpaper - "Go"
GoHello everyone! I have another wallpaper for you today. This one I just finished up on last night, but didn't have the time to post it until today.

It's called "Go", which is my 10th wallpaper for the year and my 87th overall.

Special Note:
I know I haven't been posting as much new material that I have in the past. But I'll have another new wallpaper up on the site before the month ends.

I had a few ideas I could've posted earlier this month, but for a myriad of reasons, I just wasn't satisfied with any of them - at least what I had. Some of them I have put on hold, while a few others have been tossed out completely. I don't want to post anything that I'm not completely satisfied with.

However, this week has been much more promising as I already have a couple ideas in development. So, you should be seeing 2 new motivational wallpapers each month for a while - barring any bizarre or unforeseen circumstances. (I figure I'd better throw in an exception.)

Have a great day and keep moving forward!smile

Remembering & Honoring
Instead of releasing a new wallpaper this last week, I wanted to highlight this wallpaper ("In Memory") once again on my home page through the weekend, seeing that it is Memorial Day weekend.

Now, if I could just remember to do this for all the holiday wallpapers I've made, and be consistent . . . I'd be . . . well, more consistent. smile

Here's to honoring those that gave up so much so that we could enjoy so much - not just those who fought and died for our country, but also for their families as well. I salute all of you!

Eighty-sixth Wallpaper - "Refuge"
RefugeGood evening everyone! I haven't been feeling well the past few days, but wanted to post something new as it's been a month since my last upload. So, I'll keep this blog entry quite brief.

I've just posted my latest success wallpaper entitled "Refuge", making this my 9th wallpaper for this year and my 86th overall.

Have a great day!

Eighty-fifth Wallpaper - "Network"
NetworkWell, it's been a few weeks since my last wallpaper, and I've been very busy lately trying to get my other new site going. I hope that in the coming weeks I'll be able to continue to put some more time into and work on more content.

And today, I'm able to add to my wallpaper gallery. I'd like to present my latest motivational wallpaper called "Network", as my 85th wallpaper overall.

When I think of the word "network", being in the IT industry as I am, I first think of computer networks - that is, a bunch of computers linked up with each other. Then, with a few more seconds of thinking, my mind shifts to the verb which means to "connect with" or to meet someone new. This is the focus on which this new wallpaper is really about of course.

In life, it seems that meeting people could be a simple thing, and for the most part it is. Keeping those connections growing and active is another thing entirely. It can be hard, but it doesn't have to be.

Social networking is exploding on the Internet right now - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn - these are some of the hottest sites right now, and they're not going away any time soon. The Internet has made it fairly easy to meet new people and helping aid in the "staying-in-touch" process - which is awesome. So, unless you don't have access to a computer, and you live in a remote area with very few people, there's really no reason why you should have a hard time meeting and connecting with new people every day.

Make as many connections in life as possible. Start early in life. Take the initiative to make new friends, as if it were second nature. And don't ever stop. Do your best to not sever any connections - at least from your side of things. And build upon those still active connections. Make them stronger. You never know which of those connections in life can really grow into the most cherished of friendships you could ever hope to find. You can start today by making sure you are one of those cherished connections yourself to those who need one.

Eighty-fourth Wallpaper - "Salvation"
SalvationHappy Good Friday everyone! I was debating on when I should post this new wallpaper this weekend. I had originally planned to do this on Easter Sunday, but I knew how busy things might get that day - even though it shouldn't have to be.

So, with that in mind, and for the added benefit that more people could enjoy this throughout the whole Easter weekend, I've decided to post this on the site today. So, I present to you my 84th inspirational wallpaper called, "Salvation".

Although this picture is a mash-up of 2 images - the background and crosses - I thought they fit nice together to convey the idea of what happened some 2,000 years ago when Christ came and died on the cross to pay the penalty of man's sin. Through Jesus' shed blood on the cross, He conquered the penalty of sin, which is death.

Now, I realize that the actual site didn't really look like this image, but I really liked the added symbolism of the bridge in the background. Why? Because Jesus was the only way for man to reach God. He is our bridge to the Father. There is nothing we can do on our own to get to Heaven. Only through believing in what Jesus did for us, and accepting Him as our Savior, can we be cleansed and become children of God. This is what the season of Easter means to born-again believers of God.

If you aren't sure of where you are going to go when you die, you can be sure by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior today. (Visit this site for more on how you can do this.)

The best success plan that was ever accomplished was when God sent His Son to earth to die for mankind. And Jesus, by His death on the cross and resurrection 3 days later, completed God's master plan for saving mankind from their sin.

In closing, I'd like to wish you all a wonderful Easter this year.

Eighty-third Wallpaper - "Luck"
LuckHappy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I may not be Irish, but I like the idea of offering a wallpaper that is somewhat related to today's holiday. It allows me the chance to get in on some of the celebration. And with that thought, let me introduce to you my latest wallpaper, so aptly entitled, "Luck".

Twelve years ago, my Dad considered our new addition to the family, a very cute little chocolate lab puppy, as really lucky to be living with us. So he named him "Lucky". True story. smile

Luck, what is it really? Luck is something that most people would say has nothing to do with success. And in most cases it really doesn't. That's why I love this quote by Jefferson. Luck is more of a relative idea. What one person may decipher as "luck", another would really see it as a logical result (or consequence) of some specific action.

Some might look at "luck" as rather a mathematical probability taken too personally. Currently, it is estimated that there are over 6.8 billion people living on earth. So, the odds that a "million-to-one" event would statistically happen over 6,800 times a day across the globe. Is that luck? I guess that all depends on your interpretation.

I personally believe we can make our own positive experiences, that may seem - at the surface - as luck. We think, make choices, take actions, and ultimately see those actions produce results - be it either positive or negative. What ends up as the result may be called luck. Now with that said, I also personally hold to the belief that a Higher Power has everything under control as well. But isn't that contradictory? Not really. I see it as if we do our part, God will do His part to reward our efforts. The more we work at something with diligence, the higher our chances of seeing that "good luck" come to pass. If we don't, tougher times are likely to occur. God has all things worked out. What happens happens for a reason - the good and the bad.

If there's anything I consider as luck in my own world, I consider myself lucky for the blessings (and challenges) that come my way that mold me to become the person I desire to be. Luck is really the sum total of my actions, mixed in will the blessings from above. When I have a "lucky" day, to me that's seeing some of my efforts coming back and bearing fruit.

So, in closing, I'd like to wish you a "lucky" day as well!

Eighty-second Wallpaper - "Kindness"
KindnessHello again. Today I'm very pleased to present to you another motivational wallpaper. This one is called, "Kindness", and it is my 82nd success wallpaper (5th for this year).

Kindness is a subject that, at first glance, might cause one to scratch his head and ask, "What does this have to do with success?"

One may also feel that kindness and success simply can't really co-exist. One may think, "Isn't becoming a success mean that you have to go over people, push forward or through challenges, get tough, and be stronger than all obstacles? You can't do that and be kind at the same time." To some, kindness looks like a form of weakness.

But in truth, it's the exact opposite. Kindness takes strength of character. It's putting yourself aside and being thoughtful of others first.

Being kind isn't always easy. To some it's downright difficult, especially when something doesn't go our way. It's also hard when we let our emotions fly without restraint and we stay in that ugly frame of mind too long. Then before we even realize it, we forget about being even civil - let alone kind - to others due to our own issues.

But if we refocus our thoughts, and start to put others first, kindness can start to flow through us.

John Wooden once said, "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." And it was W.S. Merwin who said, "If those who owe us nothing gave us nothing, how poor we would be." Surely, there have been times in your life where you found yourself being given something by someone and they had no expectation of being repaid. They did it simply to be kind.

Kindness stems from being unselfish and thoughtful of others. It's about thinking of others first before yourself, and wanting to make others feel good despite our own feelings. With practice, it's something we can all get better at and allow ourselves to think of others first. And that, as Lao Tzu said, "creates love".

The neat thing about spreading kindness around is that it could come back to you eventually in some way. But even if it doesn't, you'll still feel an immediate reward inside that will make you an ultimate success as a person. And that's what it's all about. smile

Eighty-first Wallpaper - "Aspire"
AspireHi everyone! I've managed to pull together another new wallpaper for you tonight. This one is my 81st wallpaper I've created for my success gallery overall (4th for this year). I've named it, "Aspire".

Aspirations. They require us to look up at what is possible. And when we focus our thoughts on those higher possibilities, it is there that we are able to recognize our own opportunities - opportunities that we have failed to see until now.

Aspirations have the power to turn a simple wish into a worthy and attainable goal. Of course, it doesn't end there. To aspire is to simply begin. But one does have to start somewhere. We all need to take a first step of any journey if we are to ever get anywhere. Sadly, too many people in life fail to take this simple first step. As a result, they will never get anywhere because they've never aspired to be anything greater than what they are now.

I trust that this is not your reality though. I believe I can say that because you are here reading this right now looking for ways to inspire yourself.

Keep your aspirations close to your heart, and never let go of them. They can lead you to become as great as you can imagine!

Eightieth Wallpaper - "Friendship"
FriendshipToday I released another motivational wallpaper that I had been saving for a while. This one is entitled, "Friendship", making this my 80th success wallpaper for my gallery. It even kind of fits in with the upcoming Valentine's holiday if you consider that great romantic relationships usually start out as great friendships - or at least the more solid ones that last longer do. (Obviously, this isn't a requirement, but it certainly doesn't hurt either.)

But I love this quote by William Arthur Ward. When I first saw this image (see source info here), I knew this quote would fit perfectly with it.

Hopefully, we all have a few deep friendships in our lives that can be said to fit this description given by Ward. And if you have more than a handful of these very rare friendships, consider yourself a very rich person.

But if you don't have one of these yet, start today be being one yourself. Being a friendly person attracts others. (This is what can initially open those doors). Then be the type of friend described by Ward. You'll soon find many people that are looking for a friend like this - mostly all of us are. But you've got to give first before you get. What goes around definitely comes around.

Eventually, you'll find - and create - more friendships like this that will reciprocate what you're sending.

Seventy-ninth Wallpaper - "Believe"
BelieveHello again. It's been about two weeks since I last posted a wallpaper. And it's been a really good start so far for this new year. Already, I've seen over 10,000 wallpapers downloaded this month, which is the best start I've ever seen for 1 month. Thanks everyone!

Today, I'm posting a new motivational wallpaper called "Believe". I find that this new wallpaper is so fitting and timely for myself as I'm looking to start a few new projects this year. I'm not going to go into any specifics here yet, but I will let you know more of my plans when I'm ready to launch them.

There are still things that are standing in my way though of getting my plans going. That's why this quote from Schwartz really encouraged me to get going on the things that I can do something about, then worry about the rest later regardless if things aren't perfect or crystal clear right now.

But the main topic of believing that a solution exists is near and dear to me. I feel that this year is a new period of change and hope. Hope for positive things to come. But they won't come unless I believe that they can come true.

I hope that if you are struggling to get going on things that may seem cloudy or blocked by obstacles, that those solutions will come for you as well. But things won't change unless we believe and then take some form of action. I know that this is not an easy things to do. It goes against our nature to believe in the unseen. But you can't let fear stop you. You can't let opportunities that were meant for you to vanish. Those that believe will be rewarded and ultimately find the solutions. Don't give up, and don't stop believing! The answer could be just around the corner.

Seventy-eighth Wallpaper - "Decide"
DecideI'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year for 2010! Wow, not only have we started a brand new year, but we've also headed into a new decade. I'm really looking forward to what this new year will bring. The feeling of new beginnings is in the air around my house.

One thing I can bring to you today is a brand new wallpaper. I've finished up success wallpaper #78, which is entitled "Decide".

This past week, I tweeted this quote on, which really seemed to get picked up and retweeted (shared) by others. After thinking about what this quote by Emerson had to say, I thought that it would make for a good motivational wallpaper. So, I decided to see what I could do with it. Looking around on the Internet, I came across this image (see source info here) of this boat headed out into sea. I felt it embodied the idea of a person making up his/her mind to travel out and become (or accomplish) what they had already decided on doing. Anyway, I really liked what I saw and put the two together. So that's the quick background on this wallpaper.

The other thing I love about releasing this one now is that we are at the beginning of a new period of time. This is a time for new decisions to be made for how we live our lives. I know I can look back at this wallpaper as a great reminder for me to keep the decisions I've made to accomplish. Using this as a tool for inspiration to keep those decisions going can help me achieve my goals. I hope and wish this for you as well. smile
